As part of the medical school curriculum, bachelor’s degree students are frequently required to undertake a clinical rotation in a department of their choice at a hospital other than the one where they are based. This practice offers future doctors the valuable opportunity to gain exposure to diverse health care systems, encounter a wide range of patient cases, and experience various healthcare environments. It is often encouraged for students to pursue overseas placements to maximize this exposure.

I spent four weeks in September 2019 at the Teaching Hospital of Kandy in Sri Lanka that turned into a sanctuary for my inquisitive mind. But the weekends were truly special, allowing me to explore the stunning tea country and photograph the diverse cities and scenic spots of this enchanting island. It was a visual feast for my eyes and my camera, capturing the unique beauty of Sri Lanka.
